Why do you love poetry?

Poetry Thursday posed the challenge to explain why you love poetry in 153 words or less. Check out the last paragraph in this poet's response

It took my breath away.

Did you participate this week? You can find my contribution at my blog. Let me know in the comments section if you played along too.

Meet ClockWork Chris

The first artist to join Poets Who Blog was Clockwork Chris. His work is both modern and free flowing, incorporating everyday life into his themes in a way that makes the typical seem lyrical. When you drift into his words you find yourself coming to see the man as both poet, husband and friend through the word pictures he paints.

Make sure you check out his poems at http://clockworkchris2007.blogspot.com/

Poetry Thursday

Many poets mix and mingle each week at the Poetry Thursday blog. This last week the exercise suggested was to submit a line from your poem and then allow another participant to use it to make a new poem of their own creation.

I submitted

And here in her Land of Dark she dies dies dies.

It is from my poem called Underground Sanctuary .

Another poet had an interesting idea to combine many of the lines submitted into one poem. Check it out here

Honor a life with your words

This has to be the most powerful way I have ever heard to use poetry. Operation Poem is an effort to have a poem written for every American solider who has died in Iraq. I have already written my poem and it is posted.

Please consider lending your talents to this effort. In your words you could forever give tribute to a man or woman who gave their life for ideals bigger than any single person.

Leave a Link, Get a Link

This program is genius. Click on the link to read about it.

Billy the Blogging Poet

has been working to give exposure to his fellow online poets. I was unaware of his efforts until I recently recieved an email from him.

I encourage all of you to visit this page and read the instructions on how to promote your blog and that of other poets you enjoy reading.

By working together and commenting on each other's work we can grow a community of poets who never again will feel like they are screaming into the dark with no one hearing or reading the words they lay on the screen.
